A Space to Pause

A meditative space for one to take a short pause and unplug for a moment while at work. The vernacular inspiration of Sembawang hot springs narrated and guided the design of this moment space: to allow pause, temporal detachment from stresses of work; to be refreshed and rejuvenated mentally and physically.

The Key feature of this space would be to immerse users in an environment that is different from their everyday workspace. One that allows them to a safe space to stretch out, loosen up, and even take a meditative pause. It allows them to be unplugged from the tense rigid, or incorrect slouching postures within the usual elements of the desk and task chair.

The hotspring structure inspired the curvature which portrays a softer environment making the space more welcoming visually.  Another key feature of the design is abstracted from pebbles that are found at the hot spring. The use of pebbles which is a hard object as the soft beanbags that form the cushioning surface where users will rest on brings a playful spin! In this, we hope to evoke user’s curiosity and challenged the common understanding. We hope that it also helps people to better remember the new space and spark a little conversation over it.
